DUDLEY
Debbie Spear
bdspear@msn.com
I am researching a George Dudley, born in 1715 in England. I just
recently figured out that he is my 7th great grandfather. This George
Dudley came from England in 1733, per the Ancestry.com site there is an
immigrant type of record and I found records showing him indentured for
4 yrs as follows:
George Dudley 4 yrs Indentured upon arrival
Added by debogrspr on 26 Feb 2009
The Valentine Papers, Vol. 1-4, 1864-1908 Randolph Family Goochland
County Records George Dudley , Labourer, a servant to Isham Randolph of
the Co. of Goochland for four years ending 4, of February 1737/8 , in
satisfaction for the time of servitude due from the sd. Dudley , he doth
agree to make for the sd. Isham Randolph one hundred thousand bricks and
to set and burn them as they ought to be for use to enclose a garden
with a double ditch of 300 feet square to pave with pebble stone a couch
house, hen house, mill house and well house and to make for Richard
Randolph 1400 bricks and to set and burn them as they ought to be for
use, and then to be set free, reserving to himself his freedom dues, to
which agreement we the subscribers desire the Courts approbation and
pray that it may be recorded. June 30, 1736 . Ibid, p. 259.
I have added the above to my Ancestry.com site, having come across it in
my miscellaneous searches on Ancestry.com. I show he died in 1791, in
Butts Georgia. I am trying to go, now to England, to find who his family
is. I can identify family names, which his children bear that match
those names of families already present in Kent Co., VA and the
surrounding areas. These said families came to America in the 1600's. It
looks like the children could be cousins, maybe distant to the already
present families. I have a feeling He is related to these other Dudley
families because of where he first came to in America and so forth. The
search has become quite confusing due to lack of confirming data as to
who belongs to whom. Can you offer any advice or confirming data as to
who comes from whom in England? Is there a reasonably accurate source
available for the families concerned.
My family tree in Ancestry.com is: O'Grady Family 3 Tree
Please feel free to look at my site if you need. you will see the
children's names there.

Looking for Hylton's (the spelling in England) changed to Hilton in Va. have connection to St. Peter's Parish. Baptized and buried in the Parish Church according to vestry book records.
Went there and searched tombstones and found none. Names are John Hilton landowner in 1704 of 50 acres, don't know where. John married Elizabeth?? abt. 1690 and he died abt. 1725 near St. Peter's Parish in New Kent, Co. They had nine children: Mary, Elizabeth, George, Anne, Bridgett, Ruth, John Jr., Mary (2nd child named Mary) and Frances.
All of them are listed as being baptized and buried
there. Births are from 1691 to 1715 and deaths from 1709 to burials in the
church until 1719. The "Hilton's" then moved westward into Goochland Co,
Fork Church (Fork Union) towards Bedford ending up in Russell, Patrick,
Buchanan Co and others. ANY info on earlier Hilton's would be appreciated, I
have a Tom and Hugh listed on the Colonial report in 1622-23, don't know if
they are related, how can I find out? I know the records for the county have
been all but destroyed thru fires, are there ANY left to be able to connect
or locate lands, wills, estates etc? thank you so much for any help or
advise you can lend.
